Marquita Schneider
In Literacy, we will be reviewing skills that were taught this year. We will continue with our reading groups and reviewing skills in reading. We will be writing essays to review skills also. In Math, Unit 9, we will study Fractions, Decimals, and Percents. In Unit 10 we will do Reflections and Symmetry. In Unit 11, we will study Weight, Volume, and Capacity. Our last unit we will study Rates.
I have enjoyed having your child this year. I hope your family has a great summer break!!!
Melissa Holloway
Mrs. Holloway's class will be working on higher level thinking in literature. We will be doing a read aloud each week and working in groups to answer deep thinking questions. In writing, we will be studying poetry. We will write our own poems and share those in class. In science, we will be completing our study of matter and finish the year with electricity, forces and motion, and simple machines.
Don't forget our field trip on May 21. We are really excited about attending the IMAX for a showing of Wild Fires and then eating lunch and testing our skills at Chuck E. Cheese Pizza.
Melissa Smith
We will be completing a variety of projects in Mrs. Melissa's class until the year end. In reading, we are meeting in literacy circles to discuss our books. We are also reviewing the strategies that we have learned to help us in reading and writing. We are working on writing friendly letters and we are currently writing to a penpal from Honduras. We are also practicing our reading fluency while performing plays in class. In Social Studies, we are researching a national park on the internet. We are also reading historical fiction books and doing a variety of projects about them. Your kids are awesome and have been a joy to have in class this year.
